SETTINGS FOR UPK TAKING A TEST  USING DO IT MODE

User Productivity Kit (UPK) offers online training for UofL employees. Any of the modules that appear in UPK are available for review. One of the benefits of online training is that you can access this information from any location and at your convenience, from work or from home. No log-in is required.

There are some settings on your computer that you will want to check before using UPK.

SETTINGS FOR UPK

  Screen Resolution
UPK is best viewed using a screen resolution of 1024 x 768. To check your screen resolution:
  • Right-click on your desktop
  • Choose Properties
  • Click on the Settings tab
  • Under Screen Resolution, move the tab until 1024 x 768 pixels appears
  • Click OK

Pop-up Blockers
If you have a pop-up blocker installed on your PC, it will prevent some windows from opening in UPK. Most pop-up blockers allow a window to open if the control key is held down while performing an action. If this does not work for you, or if you are having trouble accessing the UPK website, follow the directions below:

Step 1

  • Open Internet Explorer
  • Choose Tools from the Menu
  • If there is a Pop-up Blocker option in the drop-down list, select the option to turn it off

Step 2

  • In Internet Explorer, choose Tools - Internet Options
  • Click on the Security tab
  • Click the Local intranet icon
  • Click the Sites button
  • This brings up the Local intranet window.  Make sure all boxes are checked
  • Click the Advanced button
  • In the "Add this Web site to the zone" text field enter *.louisville.edu
  • Click the Add button
  • Click OK, OK, and OK

Step 3

  • If there is a Google, Yahoo, Dogpile, etc. toolbar installed in Internet Explorer, disable the pop-up blockers they contain.  If after following all these instructions, you still have problems accessing UPK, completely uninstall these toolbars.  Instructions can be found within the toolbar.

Step 4

  • Close any open browsers
  • Open Internet Explorer and access UPK

If you continue to have problems accessing UPK, contact your Tier I to ensure all pop-up blockers have been uninstalled. After this has been verified, if you continue to have problems, contact the HelpDesk at x7997 or helpdesk@louisville.edu

TAKING A TEST

Although UPK does not require a login to access training modules, if you are required to take a test, you will need to log into the secure portion of UPK.  The key thing to remember is to enter ad\ in front of your userid when logging in.  Note the direction of the slash in ad\.  This is a back slash rather than a forward slash.

When you are presented with the login window above, enter ad\your userid and your ULink password as shown in the image above.

USING DO IT MODE

Do It Mode is one of the playback modes available in UPK.  This mode enables you to learn interactively using live data in PeopleSoft. If you would like to use Do It Mode, follow the instructions below:

  • Open Internet Explorer

  • Type upk.louisville.edu in the address box at the top of the window

  • Click on the button in your taskbar that says "PeopleSoft 8."  This will bring UPK back to the desktop

  • Select the desired Topic in UPK, then click on the "Do It" icon

  • You should now have PeopleSoft on the screen as well as a small UPK window

  • To get started, click on the arrow in the UPK window (see below)

  • After reading the directions in UPK, perform the action in PeopleSoft.  Click on the arrow again to show each subsequent step
